The Real Problems Politicians Need To Address

Modern politics can be likened to a WWE Royal Rumble. It feels like most people involved are just looking to make a name for themselves and use their platform to create drama and conflicts with other groups. In short, it’s a complete and utter mess right now. Regardless of your views on President Trump, there’s no denying that it’s a pretty sorry state of affairs when a TV personality wins a presidential election.

The last few years of American politics have been dominated by problems that aren’t really problems at all. Republicans are caught up on this whole ‘build a wall’ idea to keep out immigration when there are far greater issues to think about. So, this article will look at the real problems politicians need to address:

Climate change, pollution and waste

The president seems intent on driving the point home that climate change doesn’t exist despite numerous reports proving him wrong. There’s a serious issue with pollution and waste in this country, and this is evident in how filthy a lot of towns are, not to mention some places still don’t have clean drinking water. Don’t get me wrong, some politicians are actually fighting hard to make the country a cleaner place. I know Mayor Vauss of Irvington is doing a lot to clean up his area and make it a better place to live, and there are others following his lead. Instead of going on about how he doesn’t believe in climate change, Trump should start putting legislation in place that actually combat pollution, waste, and everything else that’s harming the environment. Hopefully, this sets up future Americans for a chance at a decent life in a clean country.

Gun control

We can’t not talk about it; gun control is a severe problem in the US. There are too many school shootings, and that’s not even taking into account other types of casual shootings as well. The problem is that gun control laws seem to be tiptoed around as the NRA has a significant influence on modern politics. Even if you believe in the right to bear arms, you have to admit that something needs to be done to lower gun crime. Whether this means banning certain people from buying guns or making the whole process of getting a gun harder, I don’t know, but it’s something that deserves proper debate and discussion. As of right now, it feels like everything is being done to avoid this issue an ensure the second amendment stays as it is.

Police brutality

Lastly, politicians need to do something about the way the police treat certain sections of the public. There are too many cases of police brutality leading to needless murders – usually of young black men. What’s worse is that they tend to get off without any charges at all, which is not fair. Politicians need to come together to try and put a stop to the overly brutal means the police use in many cases, and there should be appropriate punishments as well.

I’m far from a politician, but even I know that these are the big problems in modern society. Instead of tiptoeing around the genuine issues and using smokescreens like immigration to cover them up, politicians need to focus on what really matters.
