Some video peeks at the ’90s podcast I do with Nerd Out With Me

I’m sure somewhere along the line I’ve mentioned that I do a weekly podcast with Tig Carson as part of the whole Nerd Out With Me thing. It’s fun. We go week-to-week talking about what was going on in specific months in the 1990s. Music, movies, games, news & current events, that sort of thing. You can check out the ’90s cast podcast <—here (lots of ways to subscribe, get it to your phone, download them, or stream them right from the site), or check out some abbreviated video versions below to get a taste for what we do. Hope you enjoy – and if you dig what we do, support us on Patreon!

m2 – a burning orange sun you can’t forget

I recorded this in 2013 and 2014 right after I recorded Falling Back Into it, but I only pulled it together in 2016, and completely neglected to post it online until now. Think I just wasn’t sure about this one. I wanted to produce a positive m2 record, one that was somehow uplifting in its sprawling drones, and this didn’t fit the bill. Then life changed and I forgot to acknowledge it. But now it’s posted. This is the most recent collection of m2 music, though it’s NOT the latest m2 music. New material should be coming shortly, with a lot to follow in 2018. I have new material in the works that pushed the boundaries of what I’ve considered m2, plus a collection of…

Our nerdy nostalgia podcast has somehow reached 20 episodes

About a year ago, I had a terribly stupid idea that I pitched to a friend during a brief moment when I was out of my damn mind. It went something like this:   And that was it. I mean, not really. There was planning and this and that, setting up pages and feeds, yada frickin’ yada. All the boring behind the scenes stuff. But the gist of it all was, “Let’s do a podcast waxing nostalgic about the 1990s” … which was an odd idea for me, since I’m not a particularly nostalgic person. Look forward, says I. Behind is bullshit. But it seemed like a fun idea for a podcast to add to the Youtube stuff we’d be doing together, so why not?…

The Nerd Out With Me podcast is now a thing, and I have no idea why

I’ve been doing Youtube videos for a little over a year now, and by “doing” I mean sitting in my attic drinking beer with a friend and letting him turn them into fun video nonsense about board games, toys, movies, and whatever else suits our fancy. They’ve been fun and, for me, low impact — which is exactly what I wanted when I signed up for it, because the last thing I needed was another project. So I don’t know what the hell was going through my head when I suggested we do a podcast. What a terrible idea. See, I record and produce them. I’ve done it before, years ago when I did the Year of Hitchcock podcast with Jim McDevitt, my friend and…

Classic MS-DOS games, rare board games, and more: my latest Youtube shenanigans

You may or may not know that I co-host a goofy little Youtube show called Nerd Out With Me, formerly Hours in the Attic. We drink beer and talk about nerd stuff we like, usually older stuff from ye ol’ days o’ yore. It’s fun. I like doing it. And these are some of the recent episodes we did. Fun stuff like our favorite MS-DOS games, a rare early edition of my favorite board game, Axis & Allies, a sneak peek at a totally outlandish B-movie called Attack of the Killer Shrews, and a review of a SUPER COOL indie party game called Diss Jockey. So check them out. My fave MS-DOS games are better than Tig’s:   Axis & Allies is an old, old…
