If you’ve let your garden turn into a jungle, then you probably don’t like to even think about it! Every time you look out one of your back windows, and see all those twisting, unruly weeds and overgrown grass, you’re confronted with an inconvenient truth: you’re going to have to tidy it up some day! If you’re not much of a gardener and the prospect of all that work is daunting, here are a few tips to turn your jungle into a presentable garden.
Go Step-by-Step
Seen as you’re reading this, I’ll assume that the very mention of gardening makes you freeze up. If you’re dreading the sheer amount of time you’re going to have to invest to turn your jungle into a tranquil, aesthetically-pleasing patch of land, I’ve got some great news – you don’t have to do it all at once! Totally transforming a garden takes time, and a lot of it! You can forget any notions of being able to work miracles and getting the garden looking pristine in a few hours. By dividing your garden into small, manageable sections, and taking it step-by-step, dealing with your jungle will become far more manageable. As long as those steps aren’t too small and you don’t put off starting for too long, you should have a beautiful garden by the time summer rolls around!
Review Your Arsenal
If you’ve let your garden reach the state of a jungle, then it’s also pretty likely that your gardening tools aren’t in the best state either! While it’s true that the quality of your tools isn’t everything, you’ll be able to tidy up your garden faster and easier if you have a gardening arsenal that’s in great condition. Are your gardening gloves full of holes that let thorns and nettles bite at your hands? Get a new pair. Do your trowels give off little clouds of rust whenever you pick them up? Time to replace those too! Does your lawn mower take forever to start and then keep cutting out when you’re only halfway done? Time to go shopping. Just visit the site here for a few good reviews.
Think About Your Borders and Lines
Seen as your garden is extremely overgrown, you’ve probably been neglecting the boundaries and lines that were once keeping everything in check. Fences and panels in good condition can be a potent and effective feature in any garden, so make sure you’re thinking about these as you chip away at the jungle you’ve got out back. If the wood in your fences is rotting, liven them up with a fresh coat of creosote. If you’ve got any concrete posts, make sure you’re covering these for an all-round more striking effect. Adding edging to borders and lawns can also be great for accentuating the aesthetically pleasing lines of your garden, and there are a wide range of products out there to choose from. I personally like wooden log roll. Although this is a more expensive option, it lasts a long time and looks wonderfully natural.
