Treating yourself to a little luxury now and again is good for the soul. You don’t need an excuse like a big birthday or an anniversary. Of course, if you have an excuse like that, you might be a little more encouraged to spoil yourself in that way! Relaxation is important. It helps us unwind after a busy day, and it soothes those achy muscles. So why not indulge in something that helps you relax at home? Try one of these home indulgences to make the most of your downtime:
Whirlpool Bath
This bathroom upgrade can turn your bathtime into a spa experience. Bubbles gently massage your muscles and soften your skin. Add some light therapy and a few scented candles to drift off to somewhere amazing from the comfort of your own home. Of course, guys need their muscles pummelled and soaked in the tub after a hard workout. All that running around with your kids will definitely deserve a time out in the tub to ease the aching knees!
Garden Hot Tub
A hot tub in the garden doesn’t have to turn into a big party haunt. It can be that little getaway haven for you and your favorite people to enjoy once the kids have gone to bed. Much like the whirlpool bathtub, you can enjoy deep muscle relaxation from the bubbles and warm water. Unlike a standard bathtub, you can fit a few more people in and make it more social (or intimate if you prefer). Some people boast enjoying their backyard hot tub during winter. If you’re feeling brave enough to make that soggy dash back across the patio, then you might love this all year round too. So if you are interested in getting a hot tub for your home then you can check out something like this hot tub spa for sale here.
Swimming Pool
For those that prefer a more active way of enjoying their time off work, then a pool could be perfect. The kids will love jumping in and splashing you. Grab some inflatables, and you’ve got hours of fun, whatever your age. All swimming pools require regular cleaning and maintenance. If you’re busy, just call a company like the Swimming Pool Maintenance Guys. That way damage and repairs can be found and dealt with before they become a problem. And your water is ready for you when you want to dive in.
Sauna
A home sauna isn’t as extravagant as you may think. Some people have converted their ensuite bathrooms, built-in wardrobes, or corners of the garage. When you’re thinking about installing a sauna, consider a space that is quiet and secluded. After all, the point of a sauna is to get away from it all and relax for a few minutes. The heat and moisture ease your aching muscles and sweats out all those toxins. You’ll feel fabulous in just a few minutes.
Sauna isn’t ideal for everybody. If you have a health condition speak with your doctor first. Kids are best staying out of there too. And if your partner is pregnant, tell her to hold off until after the birth before going in there. With this in mind, you might pick a spot in your house that is away from other family areas.
Outdoor Dining Area
If you’re lucky enough to enjoy good weather where you are, it could be time to invest in an awesome outdoor dining area. This is a great add-on to your home, and it might even add some value to the property. A patio area could be ideal for this kind of development. Alternatively, build up a decked area that is at least 2.5 meters square. The bigger it is, the better. It should be sheltered from the breeze and covered from the direct sun.
If you have enough space, you might even include an outdoor kitchen area. If you have a roof cover, you can keep your grill and dining furniture out there. Choose something comfortable like a cushioned rattan set. A big set can easily seat eight to ten people. This makes it ideal if you love entertaining. Best of all, you can sit out in the garden and relax as you eat that perfect barbecue.
Home Gym
More and more of us are conscious about staying active. It can be hard to do at work if you use a computer. But the last thing you want to do after a long day is getting in the car and drive to the gym. Having a small gym at home could motivate you to work out more. With easy access and all that privacy, you might even start working out before breakfast! Exercise is really good for the body and the mind. It helps you relax after a stressful day, and those happy hormones from a quick run on the treadmill will help you feel fabulous.
Games Room
When you have a family, you might feel a bit guilty about indulging yourself. But if it benefits everyone in the house, you’ll have nothing to feel guilty about! A games room is the perfect place for everyone to spend some quality time together having fun. You might have a foosball or pool table in there. Maybe you have a games console and a large screen TV? All your favorite board games could be in there too. It’s a brilliant way to repurpose the junk room or garage as well.
Cinema Room
Movie night is one of the best ways to celebrate the end of a long week. Sitting down to watch a great movie is one of my favorite ways to relax too. If you’re a bit of a film buff, why not convert your garage or basement into a cinema room? You could choose a big recliner sofa if you’re not fond of the movie theater chairs. A drinks fridge and cubby for the snacks means you won’t have to go far for refills. Of course, surround sound and a huge screen are essential. 4K seems to be the way to go, and you can get enormous TV screens if you don’t want a projector. Black out the room, turn off your phone and relax in front of your favorite blockbuster.
