5 Songs for your Lousy Christmas Weekend

Last year, I posted about the Top 5 Christmas Songs of All Time, and it’s a perfect list. There is no arguing with it. This year, I’m not going to do that. Instead, I’m just going to give you 5 cool Christmas songs to check out, especially if you aren’t one of those awful people who like to listen to Christmas music all the time (and if you are, what is wrong with you and can you have it removed?). So here. Do this one thing: Listen, and have a nice day thing event: 5) Run DMC – Christmas in Hollis Combination gimmick and genuine Christmas storytelling goodness from the part of town Christmas songs don’t usually talk about, do not deny the awesome. It’s time to watch every Star Wars trailer in a row, to prepare for Rogue One awesomeness

I’m surprised I haven’t posted about Star Wars more often, considering it’s been part of my like for about as long as I’ve been been walking and talking. Saw the original in the theater when I was a wee lad, had the comics, had the toys, listened to the audio version on vinyl records with my little kid’s turntable. The whole damn Star Wars experience. Later, I read the books, played the games, and had the bitter Internet debates. Maybe that last part is why. Is there anything left to be said about Star Wars other than “it’s awesome” or “George Lucas ruined my childhood and destroyed everything I hold dear, so I will hold a grudge against him until my final days, praying for…

Watching a bunch of Harry Potter trailers back-to-back, because why not?

A new movie set in the Harry Potterverse is about to debut, Big Giant Monsters and How to Get Them, so my esteemed Youtube Partner, Tig of Nerd out with Me fame, and I decided to do what any sane middle aged men drinking beer in an attic would do: we watched all the Harry Potter trailers back-to-back, jabbering as we did. Two are board game-related, which is always fun because board games rock, and the third is a bit of Atari 2600 nostalgia. So that’s swell. Check them out while I get back to pretending I’m a writer (and don’t forget to subscribe):   This next one, I don’t know how Tig managed to salvage it, because I was just rambling without direction or focus. That’s what years worth of loving this game will do to you, I guess. Axis & Allies isn’t the deepest war game out there, but for me it’s the most fun. I still…

Two nerds with beer (one of them me) beat the Kirk vs. Picard horse

Hours in the Attic debuts a new segment this week called “Nerd Fight,” which is … well, you can guess what it is. And what better way to kick it off than with a playful take on the debate nerds have been gnashing their teeth about since The Next Generation debuted? Yep, Kirk vs. Picard, with a dash of Kirk vs. Han Solo thrown in for good measure. Watch, and when you’re done check out my Star Trek marathon:
