We all want a garden that looks and feels natural. However, that doesn’t mean that we all want the hassle that comes with it. Some people just aren’t as eager to spend their days outside maintaining the space so much. Luckily, for those people, there are some solutions. Here’s a way to make sure that the exterior of your home has all the heart-warming natural effect without anywhere near as much of the hassle.
Wood is good
A lot of people like using wooden fences, decking, and cladding to give their exterior a much more natural appeal. Indeed, if you finish it properly, then wood can be quite resilient. However, composite woods like an eco deck can be even better for those who don’t want to have to worry about keeping it in good condition. Unlike traditional timber, composite timber is significantly longer lasting and impervious to some of the issues prevalent in the former, such as rot, splintering, and discolouration over time. It also removes some of the need for maintenance, lacking any need for painting or oil to keep it fresh and durable. You can get all the appeal of the authentic wooden look without any of the risk.
Synthetic is better
Synthetic options for the garden have been around for a long time, of course. But the options are getting better for a broader variety of customers. Modern synthetic lawns can drastically reduce the workload, never needing any mowing, water, fertilizer. Nor does it need the time and maintenance using pesticide or weed-killer to keep it healthy. That’s not to say that it doesn’t have its drawbacks. If you like gardening, for instance, you may very well have to landscape some separate areas for your plants of choice. They can also be uncomfortable on particularly sunny days. Most synthetic lawns are made out of plastic, after all, which retains the heat from the sun a lot more than natural grass. That can make them too hot to the touch. They don’t absorb animal waste, either, which can make them a risky choice for a pet owner.
A drop of peace
For a lot of people, a garden isn’t complete without the right water feature. They can be an easy way to attract a little more wildlife to the garden and have a naturally calming effect. Running water features can even provide some sound masking to make the garden all the more peaceful. If you want one that isn’t too high-maintenance, then creating a small pond can be the right way to do it. A plastic pond liner retains the perfectly, making sure it doesn’t leak into the surrounding ground, while a small water garden pump keeps the water moving which stops things like algae building on the surface.
Of course, wear and tear and dirt can be as prevalent in gardens that use the occasional synthetic replacement as those using only natural materials. You’re not going to get away from doing some maintenance work, but your workload is going to be drastically cut down with some of the choices mentioned above.
