Pictures, pictures, burning bright

I like photography. I don’t claim to be good at it, but once in a blue moon I enjoy tromping around outdoors and snapping pictures. It’s something I’d like to take seriously one of these days – I’d also like to dabble in film – but for now I’m content to do it a few times year just for fun. I took this picture in Florida two years ago. I like it. It’s a good picture. You can click here for a larger version. My life as a railroad hobo – part 1

The first time you taste possum you begin to question if this is what you really want to be doing with your time. It’s got a gritty taste, like lamb rubbed down with sandpaper, and the scent. Well, no amount of cheap whiskey or vomit will wash that out of your mouth. So needless to say, it makes you begin to question the choices you’ve made. Thing is, when the rails catch up to you, eventually you’ll eat whatever you can find. So someone pointed out to me that a blogger called Comicsgirl has linked to my Sandman series. She’s got a nice comics-centric blog. Check it out. Thanks for the kind words, CG, here’s a link right back atcha. Neil Gaiman has linked to the series three times on his journal, so I expect lots of Sandman fans have been reading. That’s rather gratifying, but also entirely unexpected, seeing as I began writing it just to entertain myself. It looks like one of my quotes is being used in the marketing materials for some Avatar: The Last Airbender DVDs. That’s pretty cool. Hey comic artists! Look here

So I’m putting together a comic anthology. I’ll be writing the whole thing and working with an array of artists to bring it all to life. There are already five artists on board, including some amazingly talented guys with published work to their name, and a handful of others “in talks” … but I’m looking for more. So if you can draw, and can work at a reasonable pace, and would like to see your work in print alongside some really dynamite artists, get in contact with me. Show me your stuff. Taking the FaceBook plunge

You know, I’ve had no want, need, or desire to sign up for those big social media sites. They’ve been all the rage the last few years, so being the sort of knee-jerk, closed-minded guy I am, I decided I wanted no part of them. Well, that’s not entirely true.
