Banned Books: Yay Or Nay?

Contributed Post Censorship is a divisive issue. Everyone has different standards for what’s acceptable. But, when it comes to games and films, age ratings are commonplace, and most of us would agree they’re necessary. They’re in place to protect kids. Watching an R rated horror is sure to scare a seven-year-old out of their skin. Ratings are also a way to keep kids from bad language, or sexual images. Image Source But, this banned book week we thought it’d be worth considering book censorship. Though an issue which has caused many debates, the western world still has unhindered access to literature. And, banned book week looks only at books which have been removed from individual bookshops or school curriculums. Often, these removals come about as…

Why Humans Need To Be More Humane

Contributed Post Flickr We all know how difficult life can be sometimes – you only have to turn the news on to see it – but it isn’t all bad – far from it in fact. There are so many beautiful things and people in this world; sometimes we just need to open our eyes to see it. Take humans, for example, some are good, and some are bad, but all we ever seem to see in the media is the awful ones, and because of this we tend to shut ourselves down and build up a barrier so that no one can get to know us. Contributed Post Lots of people have zero love for their backyard. It represents hard work, frustration, and, well, dirt. It’s true that it takes a lot of work to create a beautiful outdoor space that can wow your neighbors and friends. But once the big efforts are made, it really needn’t take that much more on a regular basis to keep it looking immaculate. Your backyard should be a much-loved extra room for your home. It’s a big space that can be used for fun and games, entertaining, and dining. And it should be used for all those things. Then, of course, are all the other things you’re missing out on. You can use your garden to grow your own ingredients for a deliciously healthy…

Being focused on a new book is a wonderful challenge, when I can actually FOCUS on it

For those of you who don’t know, I’m under contract for my next book. Have been working on it since July-ish (though actually much longer). I’m wrapping up the first draft of chapter eight today, and if all goes well, I’ll have rough skeletons of the next two done by the end of the weekend. I am, so far, remaining on schedule – and I’d better be, since I’m under contract. It feels good. I just wish that feeling wasn’t so fleeting. Between my freelance work and social media work and podcasts and Youtube videos and managing a garden too big for my own good and everything else, it’s difficult to be as focused as I should be on this next book. And I DO…
