Contributed Post Picture Source Ah, yes, children. Little joys of the world; miracles of life; bane of your existence. We’ve all been there before, and I know why you’ve trudged over here with your head hanging low and options running even lower. They’ve been nagging you again, and you’re at your wit’s end. This time they want a pool, and you most likely laughed in their faces to begin with. Still, maybe you shouldn’t be so hasty to dismiss the idea. Eight years ago, Stephen Segal, then creative director at the legendary Weird Tales magazine, asked if he could use some modest writings I had been doing on Neil Gaiman’s Sandman for a 20th anniversary retrospective he was putting together. You may not be able to teach yourself to write well in the general sense, but there are things you can do to ensure you’re the best writer you can be. Here are a few things no writer can do without! Image from Pixabay READ That’s right. To write, you need to read. You should read everything you can. Remember in Matilda, when she reads…

Contributed Post Photo Credit Let’s face it, try as they might, many people’s gardens end up looking exactly the same. While simple wooden colours may have a classic feel, they don’t give your garden the stand-out look that makes it totally unique. Similarly, the humble garden gnome can be found in pretty much everyone’s gardens so will never provide a good talking point for your guests. This summer, why not make your garden stand out from the crowd? A Lick of Paint A simple job that can make the world of difference, painting your wooden fence panels can really have a huge effect. Instead of plain old mahogany, opt for a light blue or turquoise that will really provide some contrast to your garden. You…

Contributed Post The last few years have seen an increase in the number of truly awesome television programs. In fact, in many ways, we have once again entered the Golden Age of Television. These days TV has arguably surpassed film as the ultimate medium. While movies are dumbing down and becoming more formulaic, television is becoming smarter. There are so many wonderful channels and excellent shows out here to watch. Flickr.com It’s pretty clear that TV it’s where it’s at, and this is supported by the fact that many big name actors are gravitating toward television in a bid to rekindle their careers. Since HBO changed the way we watch and experience television, it has opened up a new world for many of us….
