Making the most of your outdoor space is vital for giving you the feeling of room and privacy. Your garden isn’t just a yard to be filled with a lawn and maybe a flower or two, it is a space for relaxing in the sun or laughing with friends. It can be a living room, a dining room – add a barbecue and it can be a kitchen! There is so much opportunity here, you would be mad not to take it.
A Garden Living Room
A patio space is ideal because even after rain, you will be able to step out into your garden without getting muddy. There are a few options here and paving is usually a nice idea for a permanent feature. However, you could also use decking to define the space and add pots of flowers to bring color and texture. One of the most popular architectural trends at the moment is to match the floor of your room inside to that outside so that when your doors are open, it appears to be one flowing space.
A lovely addition to this space is a garden umbrella which will protect you from the sun when it is at its hottest during the summer. You can find all sorts of lovely options at Sorara Outdoor Living, where they even do umbrellas that have LED lights for nighttime. All you need to add is a gorgeous outdoor sofa, a few cushions and possibly a glass of something deliciously chilled and you have made your afternoon.
A Garden Kitchen
The patio is also the perfect location for a barbecue, giving you the chance to show off your grilling skills for your friends and neighbors. You might also consider building a pizza oven to get the best homemade pizzas to share. If you have a few pots of herbs available too, your ingredients really won’t come fresher than that!
There are all sorts of recipes you could try cooking outside and there is something primally satisfying about cooking on the grill or even over a small fire. In fact, a fire pit is a great way to keep everyone warm when the weather cools down at night. Plus, if you are a fan of s’mores, you will have all you need in a safe environment to introduce your kids to this classic childhood delight.
A Garden Dining Room
If you plan to eat outside, it is well worth investing in a good outdoor dining set to really make the most. However, a picnic bench is a cute idea for less formal eating. The main thing is that you can provide cushions and during the winter, you might want to cuddle up in a blanket or two to protect you from the cold.
Cooking and eating outside is a great way to bring you back to nature and really enjoy your outside space. Relaxing under the stars with candles burning just feels right and now you know, it really isn’t that difficult to achieve with just a few added extras.
