Mondays are always a bit of a tough one to navigate: either you’re someone who has no trouble with them whatsoever, and you’re always looking forward to a new week filled with new possibilities, or you’re someone who dreads setting your alarm on a Sunday night, and you’re not looking forward to tomorrow at all.
And when quite a few of us fall into the latter thought process of things, clearly there’s something that needs to be done about it. There’s a coworker you can’t stand plaguing the office, or you’ve got your sister in law coming over to stay for a week and you just can’t be around her for very long. Or maybe Mondays are always troubling to you, and you’re getting a bit sick of it.
Get Ready the Night Before
Let’s do something a little more practical for ourselves here, and make sure we’ve got a little boost for the Monday morning that’s coming next. And that means you’re going to have to get yourself all packed up and prepared for the job you’ve got to get back to when the week begins, and hopefully, you’ll get a little bit more sleep as a result.
Get your outfit out, make sure you’ve ironed it, and hang it up on a hanger outside your wardrobe. If you’ve got a lunch to pack for yourself in a rush before you’re out the door in the morning, why not make your sandwich right now and keep it in the fridge overnight? Just make a few small differences, and even set your alarm for half 7 the next day, instead of quarter past.
Read Some Good News Stories
We always need a bit of good news when the Monday morning we’re waking up to feels bleak and bleary. After all, there’s a lot of good news out there, but it’s always swept aside by the breaking bad news stories that are featured first on Google’s pages.
Thankfully, there’s quite a few dedicated sites out there for the good news that can help put a smile on our faces and a spring in our morning step. Maybe you could do with reading about Peter DiTommaso, just to give yourself a bit more hope for the day ahead? After all, if you feel like you’re facing a dead end job, you’re going to need the inspiration to push you on.
Make Sure You Take a Break
A lot of us like to race through Mondays at work, just to be sure we can be home again as soon as possible, but this just isn’t the optimal way to go about things. We need to take breaks, and take good breaks, and that’s something you shouldn’t give up on. Take ten minutes here and there, eat and drink something, have a quick stretch or go for a walk outside of the office.
We’ve all thought about reading through those Monday morning inspirational lists, so now we’ve made one of our own right here.
