So what’s next?

Wait, what? One of my huge problems is attention span. Always has been. Always will be. Just ask the people who had the unfortunate job of being my teacher back in Lakehurst. What this means is that even when neck-deep in a major project or three, my mind is on what’s next rather than what is right in front of me. This is true even right now. It’s not like I’m not busy. I’m currently working on a follow-up to A Year of Hitchcock with Jim McDevitt, the third installment of the Pitched! anthology series with a number of fantastic artists, a series on living through Hurricane Sandy, and whatever odds and ends come my way. When Stephen Segal tapped me to take part in writing Geek Wisdom with his team of geeks, there really wasn’t any other answer but, “Yes.” After all, Stephen isn’t just a guy who was my editor on a previous book (Stuff Every Husband Should Know), he’s also a friend. Yesterday you met Genevieve Valentine, one of the four folks I’ll be working alongside* on Geek Wisdom: The Sacred Teachings of Nerd Culture. Today it’s someone I knew (in the Internet sense of the term) prior to this project, unabashed geek and sometimes political commentator Zaki Hasan. Zaki knows his geek stuff. He teaches film, but if you ask me his real passion is in the nerdier (and thus cooler) end of the film spectrum. His commentary on geek films and pop culture is always engaging, and few people dissect a good comic book yarn like Zaki.
