Eric sings for you

A week or so I started another blog meant to be nothing more than an archive of my music. (Follow it on Facebook here.) Last night I posted an album I recorded three years ago. An album with (gasp!) singing. I am a terrible singer. I really ought not try to sing. But here is the album, anyway: X-Sweet One Last Goodbye 1) The New X-Sweet (0:37) 2) Goodbye, My Friend (4:15) 3) Roll It Over (2:53) 4) Purple Rose (2:40) 5) Blue Moon (3:02) 6) Breaking (4:57) 7) Rowhouses (0:50) 8) The Bottom of Things (2:09) 9) Martha Dear (4:35) 10) Holy Roller (4:07) 11) Oh Sister (5:38) 12) One Last Goodbye (1:32) All songs (c) Eric San Juan 2006. Free to distribute, just…

Music by Eric – “eight times alone”

How about an airy wall of sound to soothe the savage soul? Some guitar tones, feedback, and soundscapes? I’ve previously posted the two most recent albums from my m2 project, which is noisy, ambient, walls-of-sound music I record at home. So I figured why not roll it back to 2007 for the second m2 record, eight times alone? I like this one. If you’re into this sort of thing, maybe you will, too: 1) Preparing A Resume (6:43) 2) Creative Endeavors Abandoned (10:32) 3) Tea Leaves (4:55) 4) At Room Temperature They Leave, Don’t Call (6:28) 5) On Air (6:14) 6) Beast From Forbidden Planet (6:05) 7) It’s Lonely Here (2:42) 8) The Ramifications of Answering Machines (13:33) (For previous postings from this music project,…

Kate Nash is amazing

I’ve lately had a weakness for female British pop singers. Amy Winehouse is a deliriously talented train wreck of a woman with one of the best albums of the last five years (Back to Black). Lily Allen is a charmingly fun lad dressed as a quirky young faux-cockney gal, and her songs are darling. (Sorry, but if you don’t like “LDN” or “Alfie,” you’re dead inside.) Beth Orton (who is more folk than pop) is a songwriter who may one day eclipse the great Carol King. But Kate Nash. I don’t know where this 20something came from, but she needs to not go away, ever. She needs to keep making her wonderfully awesome music. No, it’s not because she’s a freckled redhead (though that’s ALWAYS…

Ear-bleedingly relaxing music, just for you

While checking the traffic stats on my website, I came across this unusual link. Surfed over to check it out. It’s a French website in which people post what music they’re listening to at the moment. And one of those fellas happened to be listening to one of my albums. Well hey, that’s pretty neat. Brought a smile to my face. I give the stuff away — it’s just a hobby, really — so it’s always a joy when someone discovers it and likes it. After all, I make it for me, so when other people dig it that’s a bonus. You can listen along at home, too. Here’s the record he was listening to, for your downloading, ear-splitting pleasure: m2 – the dialogue of…
