Robots Are Creating A Healthcare Nerdvana

Contributed Post Image source The idea of robots with sophisticated artificial intelligence taking over the world has been one that Hollywood directors and sci-fi writers have enjoyed exploring for years. However, the fictional aspects of this concept have been what has driven the genre, until now. Sure, there are major concerns regarding machines replacing humans in the workforce, a lot of which has already begun to happen from supermarket cashiers to telemarketers. But that doesn’t mean there are no benefits because there are. There are millions of benefits, and none more so than in healthcare, where robotics is mindblowing for anyone with even a small twitch of geekiness in them. Unbelievable Precision Is Now Possible There are no two ways to put this; surgery is…

I’ll be broadcasting live this Friday from Youtube, because I am a colossal idiot

You may know that I co-host a modest little nerd&nostalgia show on Youtube. It’s fun. And sometimes stupid. And fun. But mostly stupid. I’d not have it any other way. The really stupid thing, though, is that I let my co-host, Tig of Nerd Out With Me, convince me to do a live Christmas special this Friday night. So that’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to broadcast live for hours, doing god knows what. Maybe singing Christmas songs while drinking beer and swinging replica Lord of the Rings axes at one another and accidentally breaking family heirlooms. We’ll have some special guests, including Bad Luck Bootsy from Cinemassacre / Angry Video Game Nerd. It’s going to be awful in the most wonderful of ways and…

It’s time to watch every Star Wars trailer in a row, to prepare for Rogue One awesomeness

I’m surprised I haven’t posted about Star Wars more often, considering it’s been part of my like for about as long as I’ve been been walking and talking. Saw the original in the theater when I was a wee lad, had the comics, had the toys, listened to the audio version on vinyl records with my little kid’s turntable. The whole damn Star Wars experience. Later, I read the books, played the games, and had the bitter Internet debates. Maybe that last part is why. Is there anything left to be said about Star Wars other than “it’s awesome” or “George Lucas ruined my childhood and destroyed everything I hold dear, so I will hold a grudge against him until my final days, praying for…

Lots of cool geeky movie posters & swag! (new Hours in the Attic episodes!)

It’s a happy day when Hours in the Attic returns from its summer hiatus — had to take some time off, it gets HOT up in that attic! — and an even happier day when Tig brings a whole mess of movie theater swag to show off. Tons of superhero flicks, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and more. Part 1 has pins and oddball items, and part 2 is his “holy wow” movie poster collection. This thing is crazy impressive – and we only show about half of them! Dig it:   Okay, that part was cool, but this is the REALLY cool one. This is insane. Who has the wall space for all this? Check it out:     Pretty rad. Hit “Subscribe”…

I was a guest on the Geek*E podcast, take a listen!

If you’ve seen the ridiculous Youtube videos I’ve been doing with Tig from Nerd Out With Me, I’m sorry. It’s not my fault. And yet I’m going to go ahead and assault your senses once more – but thankfully, you won’t have to SEE me this time. Along with Tig, I was recently a guest on the Geek*E Podcast. We talked about Thomas the Tank Engine, Lite-Bright, why Red Dawn is a sequel to Dirty Dancing, and Strawberry Shortcake (the character, not the food). Plus favorite ’80s movies and TV shows you want to show to other people, ’80s toys I want to buy, and Big Trouble in Little China. So check it out. Click and listen: Geek*E: Geek Nostalgia
