Five years ago…

Jim McDevitt, my friend and coauthor of A Year of Hitchcock, just sent me this email:

Last night I stumbled across some old MySpace blogs I had written back in 2006-7. On Feb. 24, 2007, I noted that I had finished writing my part of A Year of Hitchcock. If I recall correctly, you finished your part a few days later. Hard to believe it’s been five years.

Five years. It really is hard to believe. Things have felt like a whirlwind since. A Year of Hitchcock was my first published book, the culmination of a lifelong dream, and remains something I’m proud of. Others followed. Stuff Every Husband Should Know, the recent Barrens, Blimps & Barons, and contributing to Geek Wisdom, along with two self-published comic anthologies (Vol 1 and Vol 2). I aim to extend that list. Hopefully a few years from now I’ll be able to double its size.

But Hitchcock will always be my first. And you know what they say about your first.

Thanks to the friends and family who have supported me, the editors who have made me a better writer, and the collaborators who have pushed me to better my work.

Now the question is, “What’s next?”

What's next? Well, we still should write the next Hitchcock book at some point. I think we had a pretty solid idea.

One of these days. One of these days. I've still got all our notes, the initial samples, the outline and proposal. All that stuff.

But for the immediate future, we've set two major Hitchcock projects behind us. And I'm okay with that.

I'm okay with it, too. I really need to get cracking and get one of my solo projects done before doing another collaborative effort.
