A brief history of time

Well, my work PC kinda got borked on Friday, so I spent all day today running scan after scan after scan after scan. Think the problem is resolved. I blame … well, I blame someone who is not me. It wasn’t my fault. I swear it.

Because things are rarely, if ever, my fault.

Totally forgot to post this to my website after it was finished, so I’ll post it here instead. A month or two back I spent a few hours playing around with music by Stanley Lieber. He does moody, atmospheric ambient music I quite dig, so, in order to alleviate a boring Saturday afternoon, I decided to “remix” his latest, Visual Rhetoric. These are the results:

RhetoricallyVisual

1) The Rhetoric of the Visually Impaired (7:54)
2) Violent (11:41)
3) Unlecturable (8:22)
4) Reckless (5:55)

The music is all Stanley. I just sliced it up a bit.

Productive days of writing are always rewarding. On Friday I finished my portion of indexing A Year of Hitchcock (note the snazzy new site; thanks, Jim). In the next 48 hours we will send that material back to the publisher and our book will finally be ready to go to print. Hooray!

On Saturday I wrote my first video game real review (Prince of Persia on the Xbox 360) and think it turned out well, and waxed poetic on Neil Gaiman’s Sandman: The Kindly Ones for my 10-part series at Weird Tales, “Recurring Dream”, which you can see over here. I think it turned out well. And finally, a script…

I spent last night adapting a short story I wrote 10, 12 years ago into a script. It’s going to be part of an anthology I’m writing and organizing with the help of a slew of talented artists. The hope is to have it out for the summer. Anyway, though the script was just a first draft and is in need of more work, I’m pretty pleased with the initial results. The few misgivings and second thoughts I had were also noted by the artist, telling me that maybe I’m on the right track. Second draft should be pretty good.

For the moment, time, as they say, is on my side.

    No. No, I really don’t.

But I did once. And I did stuff in it.

So what you’re saying is that this blog is a sham. I’ll keep that in mind.
